Bridgetown: Carlisle Bay Turtle and Shipwreck Boat Cruise

About This Experience

This is the short, cheap, straight-to-the-point version of the Carlisle Bay trip: ninety minutes on a glass-bottom boat, one turtle stop, one shipwreck stop, and back. At around a third of the price of the half-day catamarans it is the tour most people book when the snorkelling is the point and the lunch is not.

Carlisle Bay is a sheltered, shallow marine park on the leeward side of the island, which is why the operators cluster here: the water is calm, the wrecks sit in a few metres of it, and turtles feed close in. The boat's glass floor means anyone who would rather stay dry still sees the fish and the wreck below.

There is a water slide off the boat, juice on board, and snorkel gear and life vests for everyone. It runs several times a day, so it fits either side of a beach afternoon.

Good to Know & Caveats

• A printed ticket is required - this operator does not accept a phone screen at check-in.
• There is no hotel pickup. You make your own way to Savvy on the Bay, or arrange the Wharf Road dock at least 24 hours ahead if you are walking from the cruise port.
• Turtles are wild and feed where they choose; the crew knows the sites but cannot guarantee a sighting.
• If you are prone to motion sickness, take something before you board and tell the guide.
• Cancel free up to 24 hours before departure for a full refund.

Meeting Point

Check in at the Tranquility trailer on the beach at Savvy on the Bay, Carlisle Bay. If you are walking from the cruise port there is a closer dock on Wharf Road, a short walk from the terminal, but you have to email the operator at least 24 hours ahead so they expect you there. Hotel pickup is not included.
